Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 Returns After Export Control Dispute
Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 is set to return to users after the company reached an agreement with the Trump administration over export controls.
The Department of Commerce has lifted the export controls that had restricted access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. Anthropic announced on X that it plans to begin restoring access the following day, with further updates to follow.
In early June, Anthropic was forced to sideline Fable 5, its consumer-facing model built on the same underlying technology as the company's My models. The company expressed gratitude to users for their patience during the outage and thanked those who worked on redeploying the models.
The resolution marks the end of what had been a prolonged dispute over the export status of advanced AI models developed by US-based companies.
