Apple Unveils iOS 27 at WWDC 2026 with Design Refinements and AI Upgrades

Apple has announced iOS 27 at its WWDC 2026 developer conference, bringing refinements to the Liquid Glass design language and several functional upgrades across the iPhone experience.

One of the headline changes is the addition of an opacity slider for Liquid Glass. This design system, which brought glassy visual elements and new animations to iOS 26, faced criticism for legibility issues when first introduced. Apple addressed these concerns before the public release of iOS 26, and iOS 27 builds on that refinement with the new slider giving users more control over the transparency effect.

The update also includes significant trust and safety improvements, notably a redesigned Screen Time feature. Siri and Apple Intelligence receive substantial upgrades, continuing Apple's push to integrate AI capabilities more deeply into its mobile operating system.

On the compatibility front, iOS 27 will be supported on devices all the way back to the iPhone 11, maintaining Apple's tradition of providing software updates for older hardware. The public release is expected in September, following the typical rollout pattern for major iOS updates.
