Apple Cuts More Than 200 Jobs Across Vision Pro and Siri Teams
Apple has begun reducing staff on its Siri and Vision Pro teams, with cuts totaling more than 200 positions, according to a Bloomberg report confirmed by The Verge.
The layoffs include the effective shutdown of a Vision Pro gaming team and a reduction in size for the unit producing immersive content for the $3,499 headset. The Vision Pro launched in early 2024 as Apple's flagship entry into "spatial computing," a category the company has heavily invested in to position itself beyond traditional computing interfaces.
In a statement, Apple said it was "evolving our business to deliver the best experiences for our users" while noting that new roles would be created. The company did not provide additional details on which specific teams were affected or what the strategic rationale might be for the cuts.
The reduction comes amid broader uncertainty in the augmented and virtual reality market. While Apple has positioned Vision Pro as a premium, developer-focused device, adoption has remained limited compared to more established consumer electronics categories. The gaming team closure suggests Apple may be narrowing its immediate ambitions for Vision Pro content beyond its core productivity and media applications.
