Apple to Review Public iCloud Links for Harmful Content

Apple will begin checking shared iCloud items for potentially harmful content when they are made accessible through an “Anyone with the Link” permission.

The policy applies to version 27.3 and later of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS. According to Apple’s support documentation, content shared with this permission is made accessible to the company for review.

The change also means that iCloud items shared publicly through a link will no longer be end-to-end encrypted. Apple’s documentation does not define what qualifies as “harmful content.”
