Vera Rubin Observatory Detects Possible New Dwarf Planet Beyond Neptune

Astronomers using the Vera Rubin Observatory have detected a mysterious object beyond Neptune’s orbit that may be a new dwarf planet.

The object’s classification remains under confirmation. If astronomers verify that it meets the criteria for a dwarf planet, it would be the sixth known member of that category in the solar system.
