What AI Brings to Drug Discovery: Current Capabilities and Future Directions

The Promise of AI in Pharmaceutical Research Drug discovery is traditionally a lengthy and expensive process, often taking over a decade and billions of dollars to bring a single candidate from initial discovery to market. Artificial intelligence offers the potential to compress timelines and reduce costs by accelerating key stages

Researchers Outline Framework for Responsible AI Use in Food Security Early Warning Systems

Food insecurity affects hundreds of millions of people globally, and timely early warning systems are critical for coordinating humanitarian responses. A perspective article published in Nature Food examines how artificial intelligence and machine learning can be ethically and effectively integrated into these systems. The researchers identify key challenges in applying

Scientists Detect Unexpected Reversal in Earth's Molten Core Flow

Satellite observations have detected an unexpected reversal in the flow of Earth's molten iron core beneath the Pacific, researchers report. The findings suggest a dramatic shift in the geodynamo—the internal engine that generates our planet's protective magnetic field. The reversal was identified through careful analysis

AI Tool Exposes Novel HTTP Desync Vulnerabilities and Unpatched Apache Zero-Day

Security researchers have demonstrated how AI can accelerate the discovery of complex web vulnerabilities. Using a tool called HTTP Terminator, a research team identified novel HTTP desync techniques—attacks that manipulate the way servers interpret sequential HTTP requests—alongside a previously unknown zero-day vulnerability in the Apache HTTP Server. HTTP

A New Framework Aims to Audit AI Chatbots Used in Mental Health Settings

As AI-powered chatbots become increasingly common in mental health support, the need for rigorous evaluation methods has grown more pressing. A newly published framework in Nature offers a structured approach to auditing how these systems behave during mental health conversations. The framework provides clinical researchers and developers with standardized criteria
