BMW plans urban navigation-assisted driving from 2027

BMW plans to bring its navigation-guided, partially automated driving system to urban roads starting in 2027. The rollout will begin in Germany, with additional markets to follow.

The system uses the vehicle’s built-in GPS navigation to assist with steering, acceleration, and braking on city streets as well as highways. In urban settings, it is designed to help with lane changes, turns, yielding to other vehicles, and navigating roundabouts.

BMW is positioning the feature as a Level 2 driver-assistance system rather than fully autonomous driving. Drivers will still need to keep their eyes on the road and be prepared to take control at any time.
