Brave faces US copyright allegations over AI and news content
Two US legal actions are putting Brave at the center of disputes over copyrighted journalism and artificial intelligence.
In one case, Brave has been accused of supplying copyrighted journalism to major AI developers. A separate case alleges that the company’s AI copied content from The New York Times and circumvented technical protections.
Together, the claims focus on the provenance of news material used in AI systems and whether existing copyright and access controls were respected. The reports concern allegations rather than established findings, and the outcomes of both cases are not yet known.
