Study links even moderate alcohol consumption with higher health risks
A major study challenges the assumption that moderate alcohol consumption is safe. Researchers found that even relatively small amounts of alcohol were associated with a higher risk of cancer, heart disease, and premature death.
The analysis identified no overall health benefits from drinking. It also found that consuming more than one alcoholic beverage per day can significantly increase long-term health risks.
Together, the findings suggest that lower levels of alcohol consumption may still carry meaningful health risks, particularly over time.
