Fusion Rocket Test Opens Door to Rapid Interplanetary Travel
Researchers have conducted a fusion rocket test that could pave the way for dramatically faster travel between planets. The experiment represents progress in developing propulsion systems that could reduce interplanetary journey times compared to current conventional rocket technology.
Fusion propulsion works by harnessing the energy released when atomic nuclei combine, rather than the fission used in current nuclear power or the chemical reactions in traditional rockets.
