Google Unveils Universal Gemini Agent for Enterprise Workflows

Google has introduced a "universal" Gemini AI agent aimed at enterprise users, marking a significant expansion of its AI capabilities into workplace productivity tools. The agent, unveiled at the Gemini at Work event, operates as a centralized interface within the Gemini Enterprise app, allowing users to assign and manage tasks without switching between multiple applications.

The new agent integrates directly with Google's Workspace ecosystem, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and other productivity tools. What sets this apart is its cross-device and cross-platform reach—users can interact with the same agent instance from mobile devices, desktop computers, the web, and even third-party applications such as Slack and Microsoft 365.

Because the agent runs in Google's cloud infrastructure, it maintains consistent context regardless of which device or platform the user switches to. This cloud-centric approach means work started on a desktop can seamlessly continue on a phone, with the agent retaining full awareness of previous tasks and conversations.

The announcement positions Google's offering against other enterprise AI agents in an increasingly competitive market, with the company emphasizing the agent's ability to function as a unified work assistant that breaks down silos between different apps and devices.
