Google has enabled its Gemini AI assistant to access business data across Google Workspace applications by default, meaning corporate emails, documents, calendars, and chat messages are available to the AI unless administrators actively disable this feature.
The integration means Gemini can potentially read and analyze content across Gmail, Google Docs, Calendar, Google Chat, and other Workspace services to assist with tasks like summarizing emails, drafting documents, or scheduling. While this can boost productivity, it also means sensitive business information is automatically exposed to the AI system without explicit user consent per document or email.
Workspace administrators who want to limit Gemini's data access must manually navigate to the admin console and adjust settings to restrict which data the AI can see. This opt-out approach contrasts with privacy-conscious alternatives that would require explicit user approval before granting AI access to personal or business data.
