Google Tests Gemini-Powered AI Calling for Business Tasks on Pixel 11
Google is testing a new feature that allows its Gemini AI to make business phone calls for users, eliminating the need to endure long hold times or navigate confusing automated menus.
The feature, described as an "early experiment," will initially be available to Pixel 11 owners in the United States who subscribe to a Gemini plan. Users can simply tell Gemini to call a business through the Gemini app on their Pixel device, and the AI will handle the rest—including introducing itself, navigating phone trees, waiting on hold, and conducting the conversation with whoever answers.
The primary use cases Google highlights include making reservations, checking whether a product is in stock, and rescheduling appointments. Throughout the call, users retain full control via a live transcript view, allowing them to monitor the conversation and intervene if needed.
The rollout marks another step in Google’s broader push to embed AI assistance into everyday mobile tasks, though the initial limited availability—restricted to the latest Pixel hardware and paid subscribers—suggests the company is taking a cautious approach to testing the feature at scale.
