ICE Plans $20 Million Contract for Electric Shock Gloves
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is pursuing a contract worth up to $20 million to equip officers and agents with electrified gloves designed to deliver painful electric shocks. The Department of Homeland Security published a notice detailing the plans, which call for an unspecified quantity of devices to be delivered by March 2027.
The technology in question is the CTG 5 GLOVE (Generated Low Output Voltage Emitter), manufactured by Compliant Technologies. The company also refers to the device as a CD3 (Conductive Distraction and De-escalation) device. According to the manufacturer's description, the technology is intended for de-escalation purposes and is marketed as a lower-profile alternative to traditional use-of-force tools.
