NASA Awards Contracts for Four New Lunar Missions Under Lunar Base Program
NASA has announced the selection of three companies to carry out four new lunar missions as part of its Lunar Base program, with delivery scheduled for late 2028.
The space agency awarded contracts to Astrobotic, Firefly Aerospace, and Intuitive Machines. These companies will deliver NASA scientific payloads to the lunar surface as the agency works toward establishing a sustained human presence on the Moon under the Artemis program.
The Lunar Base initiative represents NASA's long-term strategy for lunar exploration, building on previous commercial lunar delivery missions. By partnering with private aerospace companies, NASA aims to expand scientific research capabilities on the Moon while developing technologies needed for future deep space missions.
