Leaked Mass Effect trailer surfaces after BioWare shutdown
A trailer for a new Mass Effect game emerged on Reddit following EA’s shutdown of BioWare and cancellation of the title in development. The video opens with a message stating that it uses “in-engine footage” and “pre-production assets,” indicating that it is not finished gameplay from a released product.
The trailer follows an ex-soldier who encounters a mysterious Asari character in a bar. A flashback shows the pair involved in a fight that resembles the modern-day action of the original Mass Effect trilogy, while other scenes highlight the series’ mixture of human and alien characters and brief combat sequences.
Because BioWare has closed and the game was canceled, the footage does not necessarily indicate that the project will be released. It does, however, provide a glimpse at the game’s intended setting and presentation before the studio was shut down.
