Meta Launches Muse Image AI Model, Bringing Agentic Image Generation to Instagram and WhatsApp
Meta has introduced Muse Image, its first AI image generation model developed by the newly established Superintelligence Labs division.
The model is now live across the Meta AI app, Instagram, and WhatsApp, with rollout to Facebook and Messenger expected soon. Muse Image represents a significant step in Meta's AI strategy as part of the expanding Muse family, which is gradually replacing the company's previous Llama lineup.
A standout feature of Muse Image is its "agentic" design. According to Alexandr Wang, whom Meta hired to lead Superintelligence Labs, the model collaborates with the Muse Spark large language model to "reason through your prompt, search the web, and plan before it generates" an image. This approach integrates reasoning and planning capabilities directly into the image generation workflow, distinguishing it from more traditional text-to-image systems.
The introduction of Muse Image signals Meta's continued investment in generative AI tools embedded directly within its family of applications, aiming to make AI-powered image creation more accessible to its billions of users across platforms.
