Meta Plans New Share Class to Finance AI Investments
Meta is creating a new class of non-voting shares to expand the funding options for its AI strategy. The proceeds are expected to support investments in AI models and services, as well as broader infrastructure, potential acquisitions, and employee compensation.
The company introduced the plan alongside its third-quarter earnings results. Meta said the scale of investment required to remain competitive, sustain growth, expand infrastructure, and pursue new strategic initiatives during the industry’s AI transition makes additional funding tools necessary.
Chief Financial Officer Susan Li said the new share class would broaden Meta’s financing options. Trading in the shares is scheduled to begin in 2027.
