Microsoft Reports Strong Cloud Growth While Reorganizing Financial Segments

Microsoft reported strong results for the first quarter of its 2027 fiscal year, generating $92.3 billion in revenue and $33.6 billion in net income. Revenue increased 19% year over year, while net income rose 32%.

The results came alongside a financial reporting overhaul. Microsoft is replacing its previous structure of Productivity and Business Processes, Intelligent Cloud, and More Personal Computing with two segments: Agents and Infra and Devices and Consumer. The new structure places businesses such as Azure within the Agents and Infra segment.

The reporting change coincides with strong growth in Microsoft's cloud-related businesses, although the available figures do not provide a detailed breakdown by segment.
