Asteroid Apophis to Make Rare Visible Flyby in 2029
Asteroid Apophis is set to make a historic close approach to Earth in 2029, offering a rare opportunity for skywatchers around the globe. The asteroid, which measures roughly 370 meters across, will come within proximity that scientists classify as a once-in-a-millennium event.
According to reports, approximately 90 percent of the world's population could potentially glimpse the asteroid during its passage. While Apophis will not collide with Earth, its close trajectory will make it visible to observers across much of the planet, pending favorable weather conditions and appropriate viewing equipment.
Scientists have been tracking Apophis since its discovery in 2004. Initial calculations raised concerns about a possible impact, but subsequent observations have refined its orbit and confirmed it will safely pass Earth in both 2029 and again in 2036.
