SLAC X-ray measurements identify the distinct magnetic signature of an altermagnet
Scientists at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center have produced what Science Daily describes as conclusive evidence of a third type of magnetism, known as altermagnetism. Their result comes from specialized X-ray measurements that revealed a distinctive magnetic signature in altermagnetic materials, separating their behavior from that of conventional magnets.
