Researchers have developed a new technology that can convert factory emissions directly into fuel, presenting a dual approach to tackling industrial carbon pollution.

The system uses an advanced catalytic process to transform carbon dioxide captured from factory smokestacks into synthetic fuels such as methanol or methane. Unlike previous carbon capture methods that focused primarily on storing CO2 underground, this technology aims to create economic value by converting waste emissions into usable energy products.

The process works by feeding captured CO2 into a reactor along with hydrogen, where specialized catalysts accelerate chemical reactions that produce liquid and gaseous fuels.
