NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope Arrives at Kennedy Space Center Ahead of 2026 Launch
NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has arrived at the agency's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, advancing toward its planned launch. The telescope, named for NASA's first chief of astronomy, was transported to the spaceport aboard NASA's Pegasus barge.
The observatory arrived on June 21, 2026, and following offloading, was transported to the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility. At this facility, Roman will undergo processing and final preparations before launch.
The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is targeted for launch no earlier than Sunday, August 30, 2026. The mission is expected to significantly advance astronomical research capabilities, building upon the legacy of its namesake in pioneering space-based observations.
