Samsung Posts Nearly Nine-Fold Profit Surge as AI Memory Demand Drives Chip Recovery

Samsung Electronics has reported a significant turnaround in its semiconductor business, with third-quarter profit climbing nearly nine-fold year-over-year. The surge is attributed to the continued expansion of AI infrastructure globally, which has dramatically increased demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips and other advanced memory products.

The South Korean tech giant's chip division, which had struggled with oversupply and weak demand in previous years, has now become a major beneficiary of the AI boom. Data centers and AI model training operations require substantial memory capacity, driving customers to secure supplies of premium memory chips.

The results underscore how the AI industry growth is flowing through to traditional semiconductor manufacturers, particularly those positioned to supply the memory components that underpin AI computing workloads.
