SpaceX Reportedly Pursuing $40 Billion Debt Deal for Nvidia AI Hardware

SpaceX is reportedly in discussions for a substantial $40 billion debt financing round aimed at acquiring Nvidia AI hardware, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The reported package would be significant enough to purchase approximately 360,000 Vera Rubin GPUs, which would be deployed across roughly 5,000 NVL72 rack systems. This scale of investment would represent one of the largest single infrastructure deployments in the AI hardware space.

The move signals growing demand for AI compute infrastructure at a time when GPU availability remains a critical bottleneck for companies developing large-scale AI systems. Nvidia's Vera Rubin architecture represents the company's next-generation platform, positioned as a successor to the current Hopper generation.

For SpaceX, expanding its AI computing capabilities could support various operations, from launch optimization to Starlink network management, though the company has not publicly detailed specific use cases for the reported hardware acquisition.
