SpaceX Targets First Orbital Starship Flight for September 22
SpaceX is targeting September 22 for its first attempt to place the Starship rocket into orbit, a major step forward for the company's next-generation launch system.
The upcoming flight will also carry a secondary payload: the first satellites of the V3 Starlink constellation. These next-generation satellites represent an upgrade to SpaceX's existing orbital internet network, promising improved bandwidth and coverage capabilities.
Starship, which stands roughly 120 meters tall when fully stacked with its Super Heavy booster, has undergone multiple test flights. Previous attempts focused on key milestones like hot-staging separation and controlled descent through the atmosphere. Reaching orbit would demonstrate the vehicle's ability to complete a full orbital profile before reentry and landing.
The V3 Starlink satellites are expected to offer enhanced performance compared to earlier generations, supporting SpaceX's continued expansion of global broadband coverage.
