According to data from the crowdsourced Robotaxi Tracker, all 170 Tesla robotaxi rides monitored over the past two weeks were unsupervised, involving 54 different vehicles.
The expansion extends beyond Austin, with Dallas and Houston seeing a sharp increase in driverless operations. Approximately 30 additional Teslas have been operating without human monitors in these cities over the past week, marking a substantial acceleration from earlier summer months when such fully autonomous trips were less common.
This development comes ahead of Tesla's planned Cybercab launch—a dedicated robotaxi vehicle that Elon Musk first announced would begin operating in Austin. The transition to fully unsupervised operations suggests Tesla is moving closer to a commercial-scale robotaxi service, though questions about regulatory approvals and operational reliability in varied conditions remain central to the industry's evolution.
