M6 MacBook Pro refreshes the familiar MacBook Pro design
The M6 MacBook Pro is primarily a hardware refresh rather than a redesign. It uses essentially the same chassis introduced in 2021, preserving the qualities that made the preceding M4 and M5 models strong all-purpose computers, including an excellent display, a fine keyboard, and good speakers.
The new model is thinner and lighter, and Apple has added an OLED touchscreen. Those changes make it a more refined version of the familiar entry-level MacBook Pro rather than an entirely new product category.
Apple is also preparing to release a separate, redesigned MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen. That notebook is expected to establish the look of future MacBook Pro models, while the M6 model remains a conventional step up from the MacBook Air for users who want the additional capabilities of the Pro line.
