Google Enters the Laptop Market with New Googlebook Brand
Google is expanding beyond Chromebooks with a new laptop initiative called Googlebook. The search giant has teamed up with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo to produce five distinct laptop models under this new banner.
The devices are now available for preorder, with general retail availability set for October 4th. Pricing spans from $899 to $1,299, positioning the Googlebook line in direct competition with Apple's MacBook Air and various Windows laptops in the mid-to-premium segment.
Buyers will receive a bundled software package alongside their hardware purchase. Each Googlebook includes 12 months of Google AI Pro, which comes with 5TB of cloud storage. Additionally, customers get three-month trial subscriptions to YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop, and CapCut video editing software.
Google is also committing to extended software support, promising up to 10 years of updates for these devices—a significant selling point for longevity-conscious buyers.
