UAE Tycoon and MTN Partner to Build AI Data Centers Across Africa
A major infrastructure initiative is set to expand AI capabilities across Africa. UAE tycoon Al Ashram and South African telecommunications company MTN have agreed to collaborate on building data centers specifically designed to support artificial intelligence workloads throughout the continent.
The partnership combines Al Ashram's investment resources with MTN's established African telecommunications network and market presence. The AI-focused data centers are expected to provide computational infrastructure needed for machine learning applications, cloud services, and other advanced technologies that currently require businesses and institutions to rely on facilities outside Africa.
The venture addresses a significant infrastructure gap in Africa's digital economy.
