Webb Telescope Discovers Black Hole That Predates Its Host Galaxy
Using the James Webb Space Telescope, researchers have mapped gas orbiting a black hole in Abell2744-QSO1, a tiny galaxy located over 13 billion light-years away. The observations revealed a black hole of approximately 50 million solar masses.
The findings suggest this black hole predates its host galaxy, possibly forming within the first second of the Big Bang. Unlike black holes that grow over time, this one must have been exceptionally massive from the start, challenging existing models of early universe black hole formation.
