Xbox Partners with Hideo Kojima for New Project 'Physint' Following Sony's Withdrawal
Hideo Kojima, the acclaimed director behind the Metal Gear Solid series and Death Stranding, has found a new publishing partner for his next project, tentatively titled Physint. According to reports, Microsoft Xbox has swooped in to publish the game after Sony—historically a collaborator with Kojima through the PlayStation-exclusive Death Stranding—pulled out of the deal.
The news marks a significant shift in the relationship between Kojima and the PlayStation ecosystem. Death Stranding launched as a PlayStation exclusive in 2019, and its sequel is also expected on PlayStation platforms. Physint appears to be a new intellectual property, likely an action game in the stealth genre, given Kojima's track record.
Microsoft's acquisition of this project adds to its growing portfolio of high-profile exclusives and developer partnerships under the Xbox umbrella. The deal underscores Xbox's continued efforts to attract top-tier talent and expand its first-party game lineup, particularly as competition in the console market remains intense.
