REDMOD AI system detects early signs of pancreatic cancer on scans

Pancreatic cancer is often difficult to identify on conventional scans because early disease may leave few visible signs. A new AI system called REDMOD aims to overcome this limitation by detecting subtler cancer-related changes.

In testing, REDMOD identified hidden warning signs an average of 475 days before diagnosis and was nearly twice as sensitive as experienced radiologists. The results suggest that AI-assisted screening could help doctors recognize pancreatic cancer at an earlier stage, when treatment may be more effective.

The findings are promising, but the reported results do not by themselves establish how the system will perform in routine clinical use. Further validation would be needed to assess its reliability across patients and healthcare settings.
