Amazon Says AWS Could Reach $1 Trillion in Revenue After More Heavy Investment

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said AWS could become the company’s first business to generate $1 trillion in revenue, a milestone that would make it one of the world’s largest technology companies by sales.

Amazon is positioning AWS to lead in cloud computing for artificial intelligence workloads. Jassy said reaching that scale would require the company to maintain its aggressive capital-expenditure strategy, investing heavily in the infrastructure needed to support expanding AI demand.

The outlook highlights the tension at the center of Amazon’s AI strategy: significant near-term spending is necessary to build capacity and capture a larger share of the growing AI cloud market.
