Personalized brain mapping and magnetic stimulation show promise for PTSD

A personalized treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to Science Daily. The approach uses brain mapping to identify abnormal activity and magnetic stimulation to target it.

In a clinical trial, the treatment produced a 52% reduction in PTSD symptoms, with 68% of participants achieving remission. Researchers said the findings could support more precise approaches to treating mental health conditions.

The results are preliminary to the broader clinical use of the treatment, which will depend on further validation and assessment of how well it works across different patient populations.
