Microsoft posts another record quarter as OpenAI arrangements generate $10 billion

Microsoft continued to report strong financial results, posting $92.3 billion in revenue for its latest quarter. The figure represented a 19% increase from the same quarter a year earlier and extended the company’s run of record quarterly revenue to 10 consecutive quarters.

Microsoft also disclosed that it generated $10 billion in revenue from commercial arrangements with OpenAI, including revenue-sharing payments, during the quarter ending September 30. The contribution highlights the scale of the companies’ commercial relationship and Microsoft’s continued financial exposure to the success of OpenAI.

Taken together, the results show that Microsoft’s broader business remained on a strong trajectory while AI-related arrangements with OpenAI were already a significant source of revenue.
