NASA Seeks Industry Ideas to Extend Hubble’s Mission
NASA is seeking proposals from industry on ways to extend the operational life of the Hubble Space Telescope. Although Hubble remains healthy, Earth’s atmosphere is gradually pulling it lower through atmospheric drag.
The agency has not yet selected an approach, but the request for ideas indicates that NASA is considering options to preserve the telescope’s contributions to astronomy. Any future plan would need to address Hubble’s gradual orbital decay while enabling continued observations.
