Pancreatic cancer cells reshape their DNA to resist treatment
Pancreatic cancer cells appear to adapt continuously by changing their genetic makeup. Researchers reported that these alterations can make the cells more aggressive, increase their ability to spread, and help them avoid treatment.
In laboratory experiments, blocking a key gene reversed some of the dangerous genetic changes. The finding may provide a new avenue for fighting pancreatic cancer, although the results are preclinical and do not yet establish an effective treatment in patients.
