Apple Launches Its First Proprietary Smart Home Devices With New Home Collection

Apple is making its most significant push into the smart home market to date with the launch of the Apple Home Collection, a lineup of devices the company is developing for its Apple Home platform.

The collection includes a video doorbell, smart lock, security cameras, and two thermostats. These are the first smart home gadgets Apple has manufactured specifically for Apple Home, marking a shift from the company's previous strategy of relying entirely on third-party manufacturers to build products compatible with the platform.

Apple has partnered with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric to bring these devices to market. The products are designed to work seamlessly with Apple's ecosystem, featuring easy setup and integration with the new Siri AI-powered HomeView smart display, which serves as the central hub for the smart home lineup.

The move represents Apple's most direct entry yet into the smart home hardware space, where it has previously only offered software and platform integration through HomeKit.
